In general an object-descriptor has the form as shown in the right column where SuperClass<\/code><\/em> is the name of the class from which the object-descriptor is derived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If no SuperClass<\/code><\/em> is specified the object-descriptor is derived from class Object<\/code><\/em>, which is the topmost superclass for all classes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

SuperClass<\/code><\/em> is the direct<\/em> super class<\/em> of the object-descriptor and if the object-descriptor is used to specify a class, SuperClass<\/code><\/em> is the superclass of that class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A possible superclass of SuperClass<\/em><\/code> is an indirect superclass<\/em> of the object-descriptor \/ class. The term superclass<\/em> may thus refer to a direct superclass or an indirect super class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the object-descriptor is part of a class declaration then the class is a subclass<\/em> of superClass<\/em><\/code>. If the object-descriptor is part of a declaration of a singular object, we do not refer to the singular object as a subclass since there is only one object of its kind, but we refer to its as a derived object-descriptor.<\/em> A subclass is also said to be derived from the superclass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Item1<\/sub><\/em>, Item2<\/sub><\/em>, ..., Item<\/em>n<\/sub><\/code> er items where each item is either a declaration or a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Item1<\/sub><\/em>, Item2<\/sub><\/em>, ..., Item<\/em>n<\/sub><\/code> is called the mainpart<\/em> of the object-descriptor\/class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The superclass Account<\/code> of SavingsAccount<\/code> is part of the object-descriptor as indicated by this figure where the object-descriptor for SavingsAccount<\/code> is enclosed in a box:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
